Back to School Self-Care Routine
1. Take time to reassess your skin
September is a great time to reassess your skin. The summer months may damage your skin from prolonged sun exposure, pollution, and a lack of sleep. Examine your skin and look for things like dehydration, congestion, or pigmentation. What can you do to make improvements? Use corrective products – such as vitamin C or exfoliators – to repair, heal and strengthen the skin.
2. Repair sun damage
Shift your focus to repairing the damage from the summer sun. Despite good SPF use, for some hyperpigmentation just finds a way to show up on our skin. That means you’re most likely going to need vitamin c. In particular Pure Fiji’s Kakadu Super Vitamin C Brightening Serum with Hyaluronate and Bakuchiol. This powerful blend will dramatically improve radiance and luminosity while delivering an instant moisture surge and visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation – rapid results for glowing skin.
3. Workout regularly
When you exercise, your body's oxygen levels increase. This is beneficial for your skin because it helps to improve its overall elasticity. Additionally, the increased oxygen flow helps to flush out toxins and impurities that can clog pores and lead to breakouts
Find an exercise that you actually love. If the thought of going to the gym makes you cringe why not go for a walk around the park, go dancing with friends, tennis, the driving range, a kick boxing class or ride a bike.
4. Make a self-care kit
Making a self-care kit doesn't have to be expensive. Find a simple, rattan basket and then fill it with some of the things that make you feel oh so special. Some ideas could include; vegan cookies, green tea, a mug, mini travel sized of natural skin care products from Pure Fiji, a book, cozy socks, or a flaxseed filled eye pillow to deepen you relaxation. Place your self-care kit basket in your Zen corner and when you need an extra dose of TLC just grab whatever you are in the mood for.
5. Cleanse correctly
Get cleansing wrong and it’s hard to get skincare right. You would do your skin more good if you used creamy, gentle cleansers like Pure Fiji’s Coconut Cleanser with Papaya & Moringa that are functional, then rely on your serums to deliver active ingredients in a much more precise way.
6. Don’t forget your lips
Don’t forget to protect your lips. They need optimal skincare too, especially in the autumn and winter, when transepidermal water loss is higher due to changes in humidity and harsh winds. This can leave lips dry and cracked if not treated.
Give your lips a little extra love with Pure Fiji’s Lip Polish, Balm & Sleeping Maque Trio. Buff away dead skin cells with our Coconut Sugar Lip Polish, repair lips with our Coconut Lip Sleeping Masque and nourish them daily with the Pina Colada Lip Balm. Lips will be left soft and supple with natural looking volume and a dose of hydration.
7. Use lukewarm water
When you wash your face, you should ideally use lukewarm water because it will activate your cleanser to properly remove product build-up, dirt, and grime on the skin, while also protecting the skin’s natural oils.
Washing with water that’s too hot can be an irritant to the skin, leaving it sensitized, tight and dry, and it can also negatively impact the skin barrier. Although there are benefits to using cold water on the skin, including reducing puffiness, cleansing with cold water should be avoided. It does not clean the skin as effectively as water at warmer temperatures.
